Pool Duel

Eight-ball in a cosy little pool hall at night: line it up, add some spin and clear the table! Take turns with a friend or take on the computer.

How to play

  1. Drag on the table to aim: the cue points towards your finger. Use the wheel on the right for fine aim. The guide shows where the object ball and the cue ball will go. The View button on the right switches between the top view and a behind-the-cue view (drag sideways there to turn the cue; ball in hand always uses the top view).
  2. Pull the power bar on the left down — the further you pull, the harder the shot — then let go to strike.
  3. The cue ball at the bottom left sets your tip position: top spin follows through, back spin draws the cue ball back, and side spin changes the angle off the cushion.
  4. Eight-ball: after the break, the first ball you legally pot decides whether you are solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15). Clear your group, then call a pocket and sink the 8.
  5. The cue ball must hit one of your balls first, and after that a ball must go in or touch a cushion. Scratching or hitting the wrong ball first is a foul, and your opponent gets ball in hand anywhere.
  6. You lose if you sink the 8 before clearing your group, sink it in the wrong pocket, or foul while potting it.
  7. 2-Player Match: play face to face with the phone flat (the table turns to whoever is up) or pass the phone; first to 1, 2 or 3 frames. Vs Computer: 30 levels of matches and trick shots; hold the screen to fast-forward the computer's turn.
